District 04 Mission, Vision & Beliefs
Our Mission: The mission of Dorchester School District Four, with the support of a culturally diverse community eager to accept the opportunities of the future, is to develop citizens who can function successfully in a changing global society by providing challenging educational experiences, utilizing all available resources, encouraging lifelong learning and promoting character development in an environment conducive to learning.
Our Vision for the Future:
The following constitutes the vision of the stakeholders of Dorchester School District Four.
* All students will enter 1st Grade ready to learn.
* All students will receive quality instruction.
* All students will successfully complete their program of studies.
* All students will be on grade level and remain in school until graduation.
* All students will graduate from the school district with the technological skills to successfully compete in the workplace or later in higher education.
* All students will graduate from the school district with the knowledge and skills that will allow them to exercise their civic rights.
* All students will graduate from high school with the knowledge and skills that will allow them to attain a high standard of living.
* All students will graduate from the school district with the knowledge and skills that will allow them to effectively interact with others in society.
* All students will graduate from the district with the knowledge and skills that will allow them to compete in a culturally diverse global society.
Our Beliefs:
A common set of beliefs gave fruition to the actions of the plan. We believe:
* That all children can learn.
* That all children are entitled to a quality education.
* That all students should be exposed to high expectations.
* That all students should be taught a challenging curriculum.
* That the family support system is the core of society.
* That it takes a whole community to provide opportunities for everyone to be his or her best.
* Everyone has untapped learning potential.
* That learning is a lifelong process.
* That good role models are important to the development of our children.
* That all people have intrinsic value.
* That education is the key to progress.
