St George, South Carolina Facts and Demographics
St. George is a small, friendly, historical town in Dorchester County, South Carolina, United States. In fact, we are known "The Town of Friendly People."
- The population was 2,092 at the 2000 census...but we've GROWN since then!
- Most of our Residents are Home Owners.
- St. George is the County Seat of Dorchester County.
- St. George is part of the Charleston–North Charleston Metropolitan Statistical Area.
- We are located very near the crossing of Interstate 26 and Interstate 95, which makes it an exceptionally convenient place to stop and visit on your travels through South Carolina.
- Each April we are the Host of The World Grits Festival! It's great fun and draws quite a large crowd to our humble Community. We feature music, square dancing, and softball – including a corn shucking contest, a grits-eating contest, a rolling in the grits contest, and of course, the crowning of "Miss Grits."
